During LCC's #theBigRide stewards were equipped with these STOP signs to make sure pedestrians could cross safely. They were necessary because some of the traffic lights were to be disregarded during the road closures of the event.

The new 'shared space' at the top of Exhibition Road - really just a dual carriageway (two lanes each way) with a fancy surface - there's less traffic than before, so the 20mph limit is usually ignored.
