Timing of signal for cyclists going between Hyde Park/William St is awful. Lots of waiting even when people could go.
Bikes on the Elizabeth Line - quite normal now, though the two lifts to get down to the platforms are not close to each other so it's a tedious transfer.

I was pleasantly surprised to notice bikes parked just inside the main entrance of this building: No. One, Horse Guards Avenue. It was a small set of two-tier racks.
So much new traffic-free space, and this is more or less all the new cycle parking for Somerset House - more is needed!
Cycle and pedestrian crossing from the new traffic-free section of the Strand - but it's usually too busy to cycle.
Despite the 20mph sign, cyclists have to turn left here - the route ahead is for westbound cyclists only.
Bridge in the Grosvenor Waterside development - pedestrians only, and it doesn't really go anywhere.
The segregated cycleways along the Embankment (CS8 and NCN route 4) start here at this bike sharing station
No Entry, but Please ride considerately? Clearly an Except Cycles plate is missing - but the design of this whole route is based on it being closed for major events and used for motor vehicles.
Why does this have to be so complicated? Luckily one can just go straight ahead between the bollards.
Vale, Dame Vivienne Westwood: designer, punk, cyclist. Her London office was close to mine so I’d see her all the time going by bike. I remember spotting her red hair from afar as she circled Berkeley Square, weaving around stationary … [more]

There are plenty of folding bikes already on the Elizabeth Line - I'm not sure that people have realised that regular bikes can also be carried.

Filter Star Street and Edgware Road junction to cycles turning left only. Already big interchange with Sussex Gardens for traffic turning left, and traffic on Star Street can easily instead go down Praed Street.
Early release for cyclists going straight on would help at this junction, particularly due to the uphill start.
Traffic lights just to cross the cycleway seem excessive - give way markings would likely be sufficient.
Incredibly wide road (7 lanes at points!) with wide lanes for motor vehicles, which encourages speeding (kept in check with high police presence). Would be better with a cycle lane.
Remove painful humps on broadwalk, or at least replace with something that isn't cobbles! Currently encourages faster cycling to avoid the bumpiness.
Currently difficult to do a right turn from going eastbound on Oxford Street to southbound on Soho Street (via the cycle contraflow). Could be done by making median traffic islands slightly wider and adding road markings.
The new segregated cycle tracks on Park Lane are excellent. They should be made permanent and we should see more schemes like them in Westminster.
Cars and trucks race down Harrow Road, making it dangerous and uncomfortable to cycle on despite being a critical route into Paddington Basin and to the residential areas to the north. This is not helped by the blocking of the carriageway … [more]

The west end of the Strand was closed to through motor traffic in August 2021. It's STILL a building site in March 2022, with no through access for bikes at the west end.

Bike-sharing station and bridge to Paddington station across the canal (ramp this end, steps and a lift at the other).
Rising bollards/modal filter - having been closed for a full ten years for Crossrail construction work, access on the southwestern side of Paddington station has been opened up again.

Modal filter on the ramp to/from the Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) station at Paddington - those aren't Sheffield stands to the left, they're just to keep the doors clear.
Passageway between the main line and Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) stations at Paddington - the No Cycles sign refers only to the temporary fencing but there's still a huge lack of cycle parking here.
A ‘live’ cycle parking indicator telling you exactly how many spaces are left. We’ve done this for years with car parks but I’ve not seen one for bikes before (although I expect it's not the first). [Particularly useful for people who … [more]
